The internet has no shortage of writing platforms. From the humble Notepad to the wildly functional Google Docs, there’s an app for everyone who writes. Until recently, these platforms were tailored for single users. Sure they had “share” and “comment” features, but nothing was out there designed specifically for multiple people to write all at the same time. Enter Ellipsus, the online word processor made for people who want to write together.

Ellipsus was built by a team of seven individuals from backgrounds of product development, community building, and writing. The team put together their respective expertises and created a product that fosters creativity and connection through writing. The team behind Ellipsus is also staunchly against AI, proudly declaring on their statement that they will never include generative AI into Ellipsus.
Ellipsus's primary feature is Drafts, which allows multiple people to work on a single document. Each user has their own copy of the manuscript, which can later be combined into a single cohesive document. No need to worry about overwriting someone else’s work! It also comes with other useful features such as comments, spell check, word count, focus mode, sprint timer, collaborators’ chat, and cross-device capabilities.
Highlighting its priority for collaborative writing, Ellipsus has a version history and chat feature, so collaborators can talk to one another on the same platform while they write and view changes made to the document in real time. Then, the primary owner of the document can simply merge all drafts into one document and export it into their desired file type.
Aside from its functionality, Ellipsus's comes with multiple color themes that makes it easy on the eyes. Whether you write better with a paperlike background or prefer a higher contrast display, Ellipsus makes sure that your eyes are relaxed so you can focus on writing for a longer period of time.
Right now, anybody can use Ellipsus for free simply by signing up. The platform is currently in beta mode, as the team continues to accept feedback from writers on how best they could improve the platform.
