An Early Start
Endee has always had a love for reading, confessing that she had a hard time figuring out what her favorite books are. “My mind always goes blank, even though I do have favorites. It’s like my brain suddenly forgets everything I’ve ever loved.”
She first attempted to write fiction at just ten years old, but credits publishing her stories on Wattpad at fifteen as her true beginning. According to Endee, that platform shaped her journey as a writer.
I was constantly searching for stories that felt like mine, stories I wanted to read but couldn’t quite find. So I did what any curious reader-turned-writer would do: I tried to write them myself. That experience became my mantra. When you can’t find the story you want to read, you write it. And ever since, that’s been the heart of everything I create.
Though Endee says that romance has become the center of her storytelling journey, she is also drawn to other genres such as mystery, thriller, and fantasy. “Romance may be my home, but I love exploring other worlds too. I never close my heart to other genres.”
Endee gets her inspiration from everywhere, believing that “love exists everywhere—in friendships, family, heartbreaks, quiet moments, and even the stories we don’t realize we’re living.” She gets inspired easily because she believes that there are hidden stories all around. “You just have to open your eyes, your heart, and your mind to see them and tell them to the world.
A Passionate Writer
Like many others, Endee is the kind of writer who writes when the feeling hits. “When inspiration comes, I follow it. When it doesn’t, I don’t force it. Writing, for me, is deeply emotional and intuitive—it’s something I do when my heart feels full, heavy, or restless and needs somewhere to pour itself into.”
However, writing is a skill that also requires discipline, so Endee shares that she also sets specific dates and times in which to write, especially when she wants to finish a story or feel a story calling to them.
Endee’s idea of a perfect writing day is more of a perfect writing night. Her ideal writing time is between 11:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. because according to her, that’s when the world feels quieter. When she has music in her ears and coffee by her side, the words come easier to her.
A passionate writer at heart, Endee usually doesn’t need much to get a story started or to build a character. Sometimes, all it takes for her is a lyric, a line, or a “what if,” and that’s when she begins writing down notes on her Notes app. She also prefers writing her characters alongside the story, instead of creating characters all at once. “Sometimes, the best versions of them are discovered along the way.”
A Job Well Done
Once a story is finished, Endee leaves her draft alone for some time to breathe. According to her, however, some stories feel like they need to be shared right away. “I want my readers to experience it right away. That rush of sharing something I created never really goes away.”
Endee also shares that she makes sure to reward herself after finishing a draft, whether it’s by treating herself out to a cafe or restaurant or by relaxing with a movie at home. “It’s my way of celebrating the fact that I showed up, wrote the story, and honored my creativity.”
When asked about her experience with TME’s Holiday Writing Challenge, she fondly shares how appreciative she is of the work her editor puts in. “Even from my perspective as a reader, the experience of going through the edited version was so much more satisfying. It felt like my story had finally been able to fully shine.”
